New position will provide oversight of Ausley’s overseas commercial UAS business

news_tomAusley Associates, Inc., a leading Maryland small business providing innovative engineering and technical solutions to Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), announced today that Tom Jarboe joined their team as the foreign disclosure and export compliance expert. Based out of Ausley’s corporate headquarters in Lexington Park, Md., Jarboe will support Ausley’s PMA-265 contract, as well as provide oversight of Ausley’s overseas commercial unmanned business.

Jarboe brings more than 20 years of international trade experience in the areas of foreign disclosure, export compliance and business operations—both in the commercial market and in support of Ausley’s Department of Defense (DoD) customers. He is a certified professional in International Traffic in Arms Regulations export compliance (ECoP-ITAR). In his new role, he supports the entire company, which has become one of Maryland’s few Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) small businesses focused on the export market. Jarboe’s direct experience in running local companies, as well as his standing on the Maryland Cyber Advisory Board, will play a key role in meeting Ausley’s strategic business objective of growth in the emerging commercial UAS market of secure data delivery products.

“Tom’s executive business talent and expertise in export compliance and cyber knowledge are exactly what we need to prepare Ausley for the future and propel the company forward,” said Ausley President Paul Ausley. “His track record will help Ausley identify and lead new strategic business initiatives, gain new customers and excel at foreign business objectives as we move into the emerging commercial UAS market.”

Jarboe was previously president of Kieyos, LLC , an international trade company. Prior to Kieyos, he was the chief operating officer of Technology Security Associates, Inc., where he led the international business division. He is a member of the Maryland Cyber Advisory Board and has been active in export initiatives and foreign direct investment opportunities for the State of Maryland. An active leader in the community, Jarboe has served as president of the board of directors for Leadership Southern Maryland, chairman of the board of the St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce, co-chair of the St. Mary’s County Local Emergency Planning Commission and counselor for the Wounded Warrior Initiative at Fort Meade. He has served as a board member of the Southern Maryland Navy Alliance (SMNA) and co-chair of the SMNA Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Committee. He also was a member of the BRAC Business Initiative in Howard County, Baltimore Council for Foreign Affairs, the Patuxent Partnership, the World Trade Center Institute and the Washington International Trade Association. In 2013, he was named the St. Mary’s County Business Person of the Year. Jarboe recently was elected as a St. Mary’s County Commissioner (District-1)
